In 1993, I published a booklet titled “The Continuing Story, Music in Fort Collins,” trying to sum up in words the depth and breadth of music in my hometown. That’s because, without a doubt, the Fort Collins music scene both wired and inspired me.

In 2017- 24 years later- I feel compelled to do the same thing, only this time, I’m going to let the photos do the talking. Most of the photos in this zine were taken at the various venues and festivals that keep live music constantly churning in Fort Collins.

This collection starts in 2004, just about the time I finally adopted digital photography and started publishing on the Internet. Since then, I have been able to photograph hundreds and hundreds of performers, in all genres. Sure, there’re some big stars in there, but also many, many, many of the local heroes who do the real job of music night after night, delivering creative sounds and rock and roll passion to the people.

Fort Collins is a ravenous music city. We have a rich, vibrant culture here that demands live music with just about every occasion. So musicians here respond by producing every kind of sound you can be looking for. A lot of them live in town- there’s practically a musician under every rock in Fort Collins. And the region is teeming with them too. Plenty of musicians from those poor urban centers to the south of us come up to Fort Collins to play because we like, and support, Colorado music of all kinds.

In Fort Collins, we thrive on MAXimum music, hence the title. May this project help document the awesome results.
